Well, for those of you that own a Toshiba CRT projection set, you know all too well the drama that we all went through to try and get the DVI input to work with our HTPCs (starting over 2 years ago).

We always figured that the set didn't report it's EDID correctly or something like that. It turns out to just be a driver problem with Ati and Nvidia. I just installed the most recent Catalyst drivers from ATI on my old Radeon 9000. Guess what? Windows XP boots up just fine and I can force 720p and 1080i and get my desktop over the DVI input. Same thing using a newer Nvidia card.

Most of you reading this are probably saying "big freaking deal, we all have that with our DLP sets". But trust me, this IS a big deal for Toshiba CRT owners. Although, at this point it might be too late. I'm willing to bet that nearly all of us have purchased transcoders or the ATI dongle at this point. But if you need to free up a component input, this is now an option.
