I have read on the net that the DVPS-7000 doesn't play many or all DVD-Rs


I also found a site that said you can modify the player to play them but with no link or further info.


Anyone have anything on this? Is this a firmware mod? A hardware mod? Vaporware?

I tried playing one in mine when I had it and it did not work. I know nothing about a modification.

I have yet to hear about a player that could be modified to play recordable media when it didnt already have the ability. Since its 99.99% of the time, hardware related(optics), you would actually have to replace teh drive guts to do it. You're probably just a victim of an urban legend.

If you mean the Sony DVPS7000, I have had very good luck with Optodisc DVD-RW 2x and Plextor DVD+R 2.4x/4x/8x discs recorded on a Plextor PX-708A DVD+-RW recorder. I have yet to see a DVD-R or DVD+RW that worked for me.
