Anyone here recording 16:9 shows on their Pioneer DVR-7000/9000 unit? The 16:9/4:3 recording flag seems to work ok in 'Video Mode' but when recording in VR mode it seems everything is flagged as 4:3. Here is why I say that. After recording, and finalizing, I watch them on my RP91. It has the auto aspect ratio mode so it automagically window boxes 4:3 material. But on VR recordings it thinks its 4:3 and window boxes it.

Anyone else having the same problem?

The menus don't say its only for video mode. I only feed it anamorphic widescreen material, Band of Brothers for instance, and it still always flags it as 4:3. Its annoying.

When I copy anamorphic DVD onto DVD-7000 in VR mode I get anamorphic playback. Are you recording Band of Brothers from JVC HDTV VCR?. Are you sure it is coming out anamorphic in 480i out of it?. Maybe it is just letterboxed. I do not have the HDTV VCR yet so can't verify how it works.

Menus do not say it is only for Video Mode but it is in the manual.

No, I'm recording from the s-video out on my DTC-100 from HBO-HD (509). Its anamorphic but I have to switch off the RP91 auto-scaling feature because it think its 4x3 and windowboxes it.
