I use Replay all the time to watch sports. I usually don't have time to sit there and dedicate 3 or 4 hours to watching the Texans game. With the Replay I can easily watch a football game in 20 or 30 minutes. The NFL's 35-second play clock and the 30-second skip were made for each other.

Even with the baseball playoff games when I wanted to watch most of the game, I'd still start watching it 30 or 45 mintues late and just skip through commercials, mound conferences, etc.

The sports industry does have a bit of an upperhand right now. I wouldn't want to buy and hold stock in the idea, because as more and more people get pvrs more and more people are going to figure out what lizardboy said and their upperhand will progressively decline. Assuming they have some upperhand the question is if they price the commercial spots beyond their worth anyway.

speculation: the sports industry might be able to improve their 'hang time' by showing live sports and cutting to a new breed of live commercials, and invites to live chatrooms (out of lack of better example). Basically, make an overall better 'live' product to sell to the audience. People might tune in to the whole thing to get their 'live tv' fix.
