This post is 2-fold:

FIRST:

I have an EAD Ovation, and have been elated with my Harmonic Technology Pro Silway-II interconnects. My first pair are RCA.

Then I bought a second pair, but Balanced. I run the Balanced for my mains into my Sunfire CG, and it sounded noticably better, even with zero break-in. I wonder why ? Then I remember something about the EAD Ovation & Signature use a separate DAC for each the Plus & Minus on the Balanced connector. THis supposedly gicves better "resolution?". If you have an EAD and aren't running Balanced, give it a try.

SECOND:

Is anyone aware of an adapter that will convert a Balanced male connector to RCA male. Vandenhul have a version of their "The First" with RCA on one end and Balanced on the other.

The reason I inquire is that I may be able to borrow a Citation 7.1 amp to play with, and it only has RCA, but I do not want to give up the benefit of Balanced out from my EAD Ovation.

Thanks - Andy

Andy,

I also use balance outputs of my EAD Signature and it does sound better than RCA. However, the balance only works in 2 channel since it takes 4 dacs to create the + and - signals for each channel. During 5.1, 2 of the 4 dac's are used for the rear channel. If the Sunfire amp, does not have balanced input, you may not improvement since the - signal of the balanced will be shorted to ground in the RCA to balanced adapter. Therefore, you won't get the full noise cancellation effect of balanced outputs.
