 3 chipper

I am totally blown away by the advent of affordable 3 chippers.

This is a milestone.

However contrast of 600:1 is concerning.

Question for Henrik:

On a 120'diag 16x9 DNP rear screen what contrast ratio improvements can be performed to such projector if it were driven only with one lamp at a time.

.8 lens of course.

I agree. I've moved this thread over from the Under $5000 forum where it was originally posted.

contrast numbers will mean nothing until somebody starts measureing ADJACENT AREA contrast ratio. (IE, Checkerboard)

All the other numbers mean about as much as the lumen measurements

I must disagree. As MrWigggles has pointed out numerous times, improving ANSI checkerboard CR beyond a hundred or two to one makes no subjective difference. Highly lauded CRT's achieves only this. I was shopping for an RPTV for my aunt and saw that 65" Mitsubishi's were spec'd at 165:1. Even cheap business didital pj's exceed this.

Satisfactory depiction of dimly lit scenes requires high on/off CR.
