ED A3-300 vs. Energy S12.3

Anyone?

I know im bumping an old thread, but I have the same question.


I have an A3-300 on order, but would I notice a ton of difference in floor shaking ability between the two?


Main reason is the price, I can get an S12 for $360.


What would you do?

If you're looking for output between the two I'd go with ED, slightly larger cabinet and slightly larger rated amp, I've demoed the S12.3 and was impressed by it's articulation and sq but if total output is your priority go with ED.

Output is my main want, but for $140 cheaper, I was just wondering if there was a notable advantage in terms of output for the A3-300 with the upgraded driver.

Hey, is this a new or used S12? I used to own the Mirage S12 which is essentially the same sub as the Energy S12.3 and just loved this sub. My vote would have to be for the S12 for that kind of price. Mind if I ask where are you getting such a good deal? Just curious is all as I just recently purchased a new Mirage Omni S10. My new dedicated ht room is much smaller than what I did have. The S10 sounds incredible. Couldn't even begin to think what the S12 would do in my new room.

Hey, I literally just bought the S12.3 (it is sitting in my car), but I won't have a chance to try it out for about a week since that is when I get in my new house.


I bought it thinking I could just take it back if I wanted, and am still considering the A3-300 as well just like you. I did not get it for $360 though, so I'd be interested to find out where you scored that deal.


Anyone else want to chime in on these two? I am considering others, but I'd like to keep from really derailing his thread.

Everyone that buys the A3-300 seems to be VERY happy with it in terms of sound quality, power, and cabinet design. Personally I would choose the A3-300, but the price difference does come into play.


Going off of the specs for both, the A3-300 is more impressive. Maybe you should buy the S12.3 and audition it to see if it is up to what you want and if it feels lacking, return it and order the A3-300.

Excellent idea as I could NOT agree more. I used to own a Mirage S12 which is essentially the same as the Energy and just loved how it performed. Got rid of it because my neighbors started calling the police on me every time I turned it on. Left me with the feeling of why even bother???? I have regretted that decision ever since. Never heard the A3-300 so really can't be of much help there.
