Hello,

I have an HTPC with a Radeon R9-270x video card and intel hd4600 integrated with the i7-4790k.

I just got the new Dolby Atmos Samsung Soundbar surround system (Hw-K950) which purports to support Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Atmos.

My display is a Sharp LC80-lc632u.

I've connected via DVI --> SHARP HDTV & via HDMI - Samsung Atmos Soundbar.

Like many here, I cannot get Windows 10 to show more than 2 channels via the hdmi output. It shows Dolby TrueHD under supported formats, but still only 2 channels.

Appreciate any thoughts or insights.

Ati dolby digital live + dts interactive for gaming

I have read the first post and from my understanding i can do an edid override to get dolby digital live 5.1 and dts interactive 5.1 for gaming. I just wanted to ask if i get this right?


My setup is ati graphics card - - > hdmi - - > tv - - > avr optical

My avr supports only the following formats :

Dolby digital 5.1 (ac3)
DTS 5.1
PCM only stereo upto 4800hz

And that is why i have to use dts or dolby digital for gaming because my avr only supports pcm 2 channel.


For now im stuck with the Realtek driver hack with optical out to my avr to play games with dts interactive 5.1.


But i have to switch everytime the optical cabel if i want to watch anything on my tv besides gaming.


If i can override my edid i can use only one setup and dont have to switch everytime my optical cable.

Are you guys still making EDID .inf files.

I can't for the life of me to get bitstreaming working on AVR 2112ci with Benq SH910 PJ & ATI 5850.

I've been trying ATI drivers/ Realtek drivers. Picture works but no sound at all.

Please PM me.

Hi people,

So I upgraded to the AVR Marantz 6010 (Dolby Atmos/DTS-X).
So my sound configuration is now 5.1.4 :)
PC gtx1080->HDMI->AVR Marantz->HDMI->TV 4k 3d.

It's awesome and works perfect in movies with PowerDVD :powerDVD's audio option to non decoded High Definnition Audio to external hardware (AVR)

But soon I enter any game, I saw that in windows panel audio device it switches everytime the Marantz HDMI audio (Atmos DTS etc capable) to PhilipsTv HDMI Audio (only stereo!) as device. The HDMI Marantz AVR audio device disappear and is replaced everytime by PhilipsTV stereo device...

So ingame The marantz only see a stereo signal (which is upmixing by the Marantz but it stills stereo)...

In Marantz settings I configured HDMI to AVR only (and not Tv audio)

I try everything, does anyone have any idea?

Im not quite following how to do all this, so here is my story.

Have Onkyo NR616 receiver, doesnt pass through proper 3D @ 1080p from HTPC, and when I skip the receiver and goto the TV I get the 3D, but no surround sound. My thoughts were to get a splitter to send video to TV directly, and audio to the receiver.
Problem is, the splitter says its only a stereo audio. I thought perhaps to use the EDID override to tell the PC that the connected device is capable of doing HD audio, and send the signals through to the receiver.

Tell me if im going down the wrong path. Note the second one has 2 channel LPCM.
Im not quite sure what to merge into another INI file, I have done a bunch of attempts and replaced the generic PNP monitor with an INF that I thought I had overridden.

Hey, are you still doing EDID overrides? I have a vizio M420SL TV and a Yamaha HTR-6230 AV Receiver. Please help, my computer will only recognize the TV as stereo. I'm connected with HDMI to the TV, which forwards audio to the receiver via optical cable. I know my HDMI port supports 5.1 audio.

Hello all

Can someone please help me and suggest which already created edid override (1st page) will work with a Benq 1070+ and a Denon 2309?
I want to pass 3d and HD audio from the avr and i think this can be done through edid override.

Or someone help me to create an override file and what i need.

Hi Tulli,

Apologies for disturbing you but from my limited understanding as I'm trying to connect my PC to my TV and then output DD 5.1 to my Sonos playbar (by SPDIF) I think I need to override the EDID because my laptop sees the TV as only accepting PCM. So in my AMD driver I can only see a 2 channel option and that means that within Powerdvd 10 I also only see PCM. I think I just need to add the AC3 SAD info into my EDID (below) but don't know how. Is there any chance you could help please?

Hi Tulli, I don't know if you are still doing these or not, hoping you are.
I have a Samsung UN75JU6500FXZA 4K TV and my HTPC is connected from a NVidia GTX 1080 to the TV via HDMI, then the TV is connected via a Toslink optical cable to my Yamaha HTR-5540 receiver.
I am trying to get INF that will pass through 5.1. My TV is reporting LPCM 2 from the EDID.
I have attached my INF file.
Thanks in advance for any help. The Plex people told me this was not possible but I know it is.

Update - I tried another INF from this thread for a guy that had a Samsung 4k TV and was able to get DTS and HD DTS to play at 5.1! The file didn't include dolby digital format so that still plays at 2.0
Can you make the file to just include all formats at 5.1?

Hello friends.

I read all the subjects here on the topic, it helped me a lot.

But I still have problems. I will tell my situation to see if anyone can help me. I already apologize for my English.

I have an HTPC connected on a Yamaha RX-V377 / HTR-3067 AV Receiver.

At the output of the receiver, an HDMI splitter is connected by sending the signal to an HD141x optoma projector and a LG 60UH6150 TV.

My initial problem was to send 1080P to the two screens, which only recognized 640x480. I was able to use an EDID here from the forum, and it worked.

But I still have instability, when restarting the HTPC it accuses that there was a bad shutdown probably caused by drivers, sometimes I need to reboot twice to give an image, it also happens that if I turn off the TV and only stay with the projector turned on, sometimes it To recognize the receiver in the Windows settings, and need to reboot to return to normal.

My suspicion is that this EDID even though it worked, is still not ideal. Would anyone have a specific EDID to use in my case, or could someone help me create one for my specific case?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
First time doing something like this, so please advise if it is correct for my situation!
My set up is:
Intel NUC (HD graphics 4000) -> HDMI MATRIX (with a SPDIF out to an old videologic AC3 decoder) -> matrix goes to a Samsung H6700 and a Benq W1110s projector.
Connected to either TV or projector I get no compressed formats found under sound properties (onboard intel sound as part of HD graphics 4000). I thought it might be the matrix, but I've connected NUC straight to TV and straight to projector without any other devices and result is the same, format list is blank, which is totally frustrating.

All I want is AC3 5.1 to my decoder, nothing more sophisticated!
Is the EDID override the right approach? I'd also read that edid overrides didn't work with intel, is that true?
At the moment I have downloaded moninfo but would appreciate thoughts on how best to proceed.

Hi guys,

Would you know what the best EDID would be for my setup below? Sorry if its messy... and thanks for any help ahead of time!

AMD RX480 video card HDMI from PC connected to IOGEAR GW3DHDKIT Wireless transmitter on HDMI input 1 which is then connected to a Sony Playstation 3DTV for HDMI Output. The wireless HDMI which supports 5.1 is then wirelessly sent to the IOGEAR receiver which connects to my Onkyo Receiver TX-SR507. Once I turn on the receiver my PC sound changes from SONY Playstation 3D speakers to TX-SR507, I once saw it actually say in the pc sound control panel that 8 speakers formats and Dobly and DTS supported but for some reason it just disappeared and changed to only say 2 speakers and stereo available, so I assume its the EDID that sometimes works and doesn't. Finally my receiver is connected to a LG OLED65C6P.

Update: I was able to get the 8 speakers and Dolby and DTS with the Sony KDS-55A3000 - ONKYO 805.inf drivers, which is fantastic! Only thing is I can get Dolby working with PowerDVD for example when I force it in output audio settings and then my receiver picks it up. But I haven't been able to do the same in PC games, has anyone else had this issue?

Update 2: Did some more digging looks like PC games are PCM Multichannel when using HDMI from videocards, atleast thats my understanding that it occurs because of licensing and that we can apparently only get Dolby and DTS using a sound card or DAC with optical or coaxial.

I created this from my lg oled and my denon,
under speaker setup - configuration, when select anything else other than stereo i am missing sound for most surround options.
when i select 7.1 i get only 2 channels.

I tried a few other .inf files and they all have the same issue. Any advice would be great.

Hello. Im not sure if I can still ask for something in this post. I actually used my last 12 hours reading everything about this EDID overriding and from knowing nothing I came close to something. I made my 5.1 working but because I didnt used the right EDID (I guess) I have still some problems. I tried to make those .inf files in order to ask politely if it is possible for u to make me a right EDID. The problem is that I cant make it work with my Home Theater. Its a J5500 5.1 Samsung. I was able to make a .inf file for my TV. Would you help me pls? I spend all my saving this weekend so I can watch and play with my new TV and HT and this happened :(

Hello, I am new in this forum.

In this document is a link to a program I used to modify my edid. It is quite simple, you just need to create a copy of your actual edid and then edit this copy adding in the audio section the attributes you want.

This program creates bin files, so you need to convert them with moninfo.
