Electric Recline Seats And The Transformer

Is it normal for the transformer on the Jaymar seats to get warm. I placed them on a board behind the chairs . Should they be warm even when not using the chairs ?

My Berkline transformers are SLIGHTLY warm to the touch. This is normal since the transformer is drawing some current even when the chair is not in use. Since no work is being performed, the "idle state" power is being dissipated as heat. I think you will find that any "wall wart" will feel warm to the touch.

Someone with a lot of time on their hands might want to measure the idle state power consumption of different models and tell us how much power we are wasting with these things. I know I must have 10-15 of these things plugged in for various devices. A few are actually powering devices full time such as the phone, DSL modem/router, Ethernet switch, HA controller, etc.
maddogmc, thankyou.
