I am building a new house and would like to have the home theater screen placed in front of window. This would require shading behind the window to block out the light. I've seen expensive home theaters on television that have shades (I believe that use blackout cloth) that have motorized lowering and raising controls and that sit inside some kind of rail for better light blocking. Does anybody know where I can get the hardware for this. I wouldn't mind putting it in myself.

smarthome.com sells devices for controlling blinds and curtains--I would try there first.

Velux sells kits exactly like you describe with side rails--but probably only in certian sizes--you'd have to check. (I have one on my Velux skylight--blocks 100% of the light).

Most devices use relays for the stop, and the relay coil stays on after the unit is fully closed. I use electronic timer circuits from smarthome.com to disconnect all power after so many seconds.

Hope this helps...
