Hello,


Running electricity to my riser. Need to power 8 recliners - does anyone know the power requirements? Was going to be on same circuit as other switches in the room(probably not used) including one for a subwoofer(definitely used)- thoughts?

20 amp circuit

Should be fine if its going to be other outlets. I have that arrangement for 7 seats. Only concern really if you're going crazy big with the sub. If you are, maybe run a dedicated 20A for the sub to help prevent any hum issues. Lighting switches/circuit I did separately.

We had a rain storm 2pm yesterday (Sunday 8/21), so went inside and my daughter help me video the power draw my Berkline 12006's took.


Berkline 12006 power seats

Test of current draw during use; this is single seat

Results=0.1amp thru 0.2amp during travel, 0.4 amp spike at stop.

Test equip: Panamax M5300PM

(0.5amp constant current due to other gear, PS3/CableBox)



I'll put this in my HT build thread to keep for when other ask in the future, as this comes up periodically.

It's telling me "video is private" and won't let me watch?

Just changed that, when I upload from iMovie default is Private, then I can add text in YouTube/etc, and change to unlisted or public.

Thx for pointing out.

Lets put it this way: My chairs have a battery backup built into the power supply. The batteries it takes are two 9V batteries.

You did a sweet job on your DIY chairs.


Not to over analyze this, power (watts) = V (volts) * I (amps)

123 volts * .2 amps = 24.6 watts while seat is opening/closing, heck even straining the seat motor took only double that, 50 watts.

A dim incandescent light bulb.


So I'm curious why your seats have a battery backup built into the power supply?

Is there some electrical memory they are trying to keep, or is it simply to operate the seats if the AC power is out?

That is my understanding, I don't have battery back up but imagine that for some getting out of a seat stuck in the reclined position may be difficult and stressful on the foot-rest mechanism.
