You mean distance from screen to PJ? Should be 1.5 X the screen width to the green lense. For example, with an 80" wide screen it should be 120" from the center of the screen to the green tubes lense.
1.5 will wear your tubes faster, 1.3 may give you a little less sharpness in the corners and if you increase the raster on the tube face too much can cause you tube failure...
I'm reading this as Dewey want's to double the distance from the screen while maintaining the same width??? Dewey, can you clarify what you are trying to do here?
You can decrease the focal length if you use rear projection lenses.
Thea also usually have the benefit of being LC.
But that seems the wrong direction.
You could modify yout PJ to use HD10 which have 1.23 times the focal length of the 7" and 8" lenses but that would be a horrible mod to do and only bring 23% more TD...
