Hi,
I have my HTPC placed right next to my RCA MM52100 RPTV. For the last month or so I have been observing severe blue and red line on the screen. These lines are more like curves and mainly visible when the background is dark but not pure black. It is also cleary visible when the picture is light gray or white.
Doing the automatic convergence on the RPTV helps but only for about an hour and it would be back. Yesterday, I thought this might be due to electro magnetic interference caused by the PC. So I switched off my PC and the lines have disappeared. They have not reappeared after restarting the PC so far. May be it will tomorrow. (I keep my HTPC on all the time.)
So, the simple solution is to restart the PC whenever I notice the lines. The long term solution would be to probably move it a little farther from the PC (need to move a lot of other components to achieve that) or even replace whatever is causing the EMI in the first place.
The case is the popular (at the time I bought) directron black hydraulic case . I think it has an antec power supply. Should I change the powersupply to say Enermax?
Am I even thinking in the right direction ? Is this the correct solution?
Another problem I have recently noticed with the RPTV is that is has many green, pink (may be red) and blue round dots about 3mm each right at the center of the TV. Could this in anyway be caused by the PC too? This seems to be kind of permanent damage
