I recently borrowed an NEC LT81 (SVGA DLP) projector from work, and it convinced me that FP is the way to go - except for the fan noise and light spill out the sides. It may be quite a while until I get the $$$ (and wifely approval), but I think it would be well worth while to build an enclosure. As I would be hanging it under a dropped ceiling (about 6' 6" high), I'd like to add fans that exhaust into the plenum above. I have some experience with PC building, and heat is a BIG BAD THING for any electronics (or bulbs). Two or more Panaflo 120mm fans should be sufficient and quiet, sucking air out of the box - the air inlet should have a filter for dust and light.
Switching is the problem. I'd like to have a thermal switch (12V) that comes on at 90-100F (?) so that operation is automatic and continues after the proj is off until the whole box cools. Does anyone know of source/part number/cost?
