Hi there.

I have been trying to get a smooth playback of my family videos on my HTPC without success. The videos are taken with canon HG10 video camera (native resolution 1440 x 1080). I use pinnacle 12 to convert .m2ts to mpeg2. but the video playback within vista media center is horrible. I installed coreavc codec but that didnt correct the problem.

is this a codec problem or should covert the files to a different format?

DVD and bluray playback is very smooth using the VMC player and TMT. No other filters or codecs installed.

Asus M3N-HDMI

Onkyo 605

AMD phenom 9550

Vista x32

Thanks

It could be a MPEG2 or MPEG4 transport stream.

Because they could be different formats, load m2ts in TsRemux to determine which format you are dealing with, post back with the results.
