I did a search on the forum, but the search option does not allow me to put "5" in to the question. Anyway, these were one of the first micro satellite systems out there, they were well received and got nice reviews at the time (1997).

Does anyone still have them? The 5.2's apparently corrected some of the lacks on the 5+1 system, say mids and maybe max volume, but I'm not sure, there are not enough info on the net right now.

I'm interested in knowing them better, because a friend is selling a set.

Thanks!

I recently just got the 5.2 satellites and center for my mom. She didn't want big speakers and she was on a budget. I had auditioned many speakers (including the 5.1s) with her at local hi-fi shops. I was impressed by their sound, but I bought the speakers online as they were considerably cheaper.

The speakers are in a room that is about 25x35x14 and there are no walls so the room opens to the whole kitchen and dining room. The speakers fill the whole house nicely for music and HT is impressive.

I have a set of Take 5 satellites and they work well for home theater and I enjoy them. They're speciality is HT and not music however. What's your percentage of usage HT vs Music? If they will mainly be used for HT, you should be happy.

I have had a set of Take 5's for about 6 years. I upgraded the sub from 8" to 10" when I purchased them. These speakers were phenominal for the $$$. I used them in a 10/15 room primarily for HT and I was VERY happy with them. They were somewhat lacking for music though.

When I moved them into my new 12x25 room, the Take's just could not handle the room volume and sounded lacking in midrange. Funny, I never heard a big gap in mids when they were in the other room. Ended up upgrading to B&W 602's and this was a significant improvement for HT and a HUGE improvement for music..

I would not hesitate wo install these again in a smaller room but they just won't cut it in a bigger room.

Yep, the midrange is important to me, even when I will be using them only for HT (I have a dedicated music system). One concern I have is how close can I put the sub and my TV? Because Im thinking in minimizing the midrange loss by putting the sub between the sats, maybe behind the TV set.

The original Take 5's are still in use in my 2nd setup. I bought Take 5.2's for my sister and she is enjoying them. They were a bargain new so I assume they are a better bargain used.
