Hello,

newbie at speakers and receivers here. Just bought the 814V focal with center cc800v. I also just ordered the Yamaha RX-V673. I noticed that the avr does not have preamp output for the speakers. Will this receiver be alright powering my new speakers or should I be looking into getting another receiver?

Thanks for help!

Depends on room size. The 814s seem pretty efficient at 91.5db sensitivity and 8 ohms rated passive resistance. The Yamaha 6 series isn't as powerful as it was back in the 661/663 generation but looking at measurements of the 573, it should be good for 100W/channel in stereo and about 30W/channel with all channels driven.

If seating distance is 6-8 feet, you should be fine, if its a big room and you are sitting further away I would see if you can stretch your budget $100 and get a Pioneer SC-1222-K from newegg for $500, or you can get Best Buy to price match. The Pioneer can do 150W/channel in stereo and about 100W/channel all channels driven.
