If the ATV is outputting 4K SDR/30hz then by definition you're not getting an HDR signal. The HC4040 should report the incoming signal specs via remote's info menu.
If the ATV is outputting 4K SDR/30hz then by definition you're not getting an HDR signal. The HC4040 should report the incoming signal specs via remote's info menu.I finally got my screen setup and I think I figured out how to get my Apple TV 4K to play nice with my refurbished Epson 4040. I have the Apple TV 4K set to output 4K SDR 30HZ, which is the highest refresh rate for HDR that the projector supports. Putting my output settings to 4K SDR 30HZ took the projector from getting no signal to getting what I believe to be 4K with HDR, however, I'm hoping there is some way that I can verify in the projector that it's really getting 4K and HDR. Any tips?
Additionally, if I was to try and copy some recommended settings for this projector, would I be better served using settings/calibration from an Epson 5040 or an Epson 4000?
Recommend is always to set ATV to SDR and then let it auto switch to HDR when content contains via Match settings in videoIf the ATV is outputting 4K SDR/30hz then by definition you're not getting an HDR signal. The HC4040 should report the incoming signal specs via remote's info menu.
Thanks!Use the PROJECTOR INFO screen in the settings menu. It will tell you input resolution, color space, bit depth, etc.
Doesn’t work for me unless I do 30HZ. No picture if I go higher. Weird. Mine are like 1 year oldYou should be able to set the ATV4K to 4K SDR 60hz with frame rate and range match turned on. Unless it’s the brand spanking new ATV4K, you shouldn’t run into any 4K60 HDR content that’ll throw an issue. This worked for me and made sure I got snappy UI animations and 60hz for YouTube TV.
What HDMI cables are you using? 4K 60hz SDR is within the HDMI 1.4 bandwidth limits and you should at least get the ATV UI.Doesn’t work for me unless I do 30HZ. No picture if I go higher. Weird. Mine are like 1 year old
Interesting. After setting to 30HZ 4K SDR, ATV now seems to handle even 60 SDR 4K by result. Just needed the push. Oh Apple...You should be able to set the ATV4K to 4K SDR 60hz with frame rate and range match turned on. Where would this setting be?Make sure your EDID setting is set to advanced on the Epson too
Ah shoot, I got my Epson's mixed up. The 3800/5050 have the EDID option. You just want to make sure in the Signal > Avanced menu that the HDR is set to Auto and the same for Color Space.Where would this setting be?
