I've had this thing for about a year now, and I'm noticing that it makes a funny noise when it receives data. It almost sounds like a harddrive seeking. Like a crackle. I only have it hooked up via hdmi, ceiling mounted. I notice the noise when the room is very quiet. It may be going on when it's loud too, but I just can't hear it. Anybody have an opinion?

Any other suggestions?

Nothing good. Not many moving parts in the box. I guess it could be parts shifting as the system heats up. Does it go away after awhile?

Another possibility is a bad fan bearing. If the fan were wiggling a bit, it might occassionally hit the housing. Ball bearings will do intermittent clicking when they flat spot, but I doubt Epson used an expensive ball bearing mounte fan. More likely bushings with excessive play.

Either one of those would be send it back situations. I'd give Epson a call.
