Ok so I've been lurking for several months while trying to finish my basement and doing research on projectors since I'm a newbie on everything. I jumped on a sale on black Friday and bought the 8350 for $1100 from pp. (no tax or shipping which is awesome!) Well currently I only have two sheets side by side hanging on my studs (walls not finished yet) and I am pretty blown away of how good it looks for the non-screen. My question now is do I need to tweak any of the settings? I hear people calibrating the projectors? Do most people run it with out the box settings? Thanks for all the help and I apologize in advance for stupid questions because I'm new to this whole projector/home theater world, but I am very excited! Thanks, Ned

I would buy a calibration DVD from Avia, DVE, or any of the other popular brands. You can even get one from Netflix as well to save $$. They will help you dial in the picture...especially black level. It's worth the time and $$.

Pretty much. It's pretty much a guided walk through on adjusting everything with the necessary test patterns you need. They are very user friendly.
