My Epson EMP-TW2000's lamp has expired after 1,905 hours of duty.

It exploded (pop up) during cooling period of shut down.

I have not done any lamp replacement, I need help, here some questions:

1. There are two options, buy a bare lamp and put it into the old lamp housing. This is cheaper, but is this easy to do without any risk? Is this the right way to do?

2. Replace the whole lamp with housing. Where can I buy a cheap one?

3. Is there anything I have to know before I buy, either bare lamp or complete kit?

THANKS

I have done a bare-bulb replacement at work, and I would have no problem doing the same at home if I knew it was the same bulb as in a complete Epson assembly. I am an electronic technician with plenty of experience, though, so you should only consider doing one if you feel confident of your skills. I also suspect warranty issues with bare bulbs are a bigger risk. Regarding dealers or prices, I do not know (and it is not good to discuss here anyway). You did not say where you are, but in any case, the bulb you need is for the model called the Home Cinema 1080UB in the USA.
