Hey guys,

I currently own the Optoma HD 65 and am considering the Epson Powerlite Pro Cinema 720.

Would any of you pick one over the other (and why?)?

While I'm happy with Blu-ray and HD DVD content via the HD 65, I find that HD Cable and the Xbox 360 look pretty bad.

I have a buyer who's willing to take my Optoma, so it's just a matter of making the right decision.

Thanks!

Honestly, unless it is a 1 for 1 trade I would not consider it at all.

Projectorcentral recommends them both, with the biggest knocks against the HD65 being placement flexibility and noise.

Projectorreviews.com compared the two of them, and they didn't have much to say. That leads me to believe that where wasn't much different between them image-quality wise.

I'm not sure if trading the HD65 for the Epson will really improve things at all.

Strange that the 360 doesn't look good as I found that it was far less "picky" then my HD-DVD player and Blu-ray player when being connected to my new projector (an Optoma HD80).

They are roughly in the same class, picture-wise. Going from one to the other would be stagnation, not an upgrade. If the HD65 worked for you, then you obviously do not need the Epson's lens shift or zoom or brightness-in-brighest-mode. So you'd gain a bit of quietness (no much - the Epson is noisy for LCD) and loose a bit on black levels and brightness-in-best-mode. The Epson might even be worse for you. If you can sell the HD65 for a good price and are looking for an inexpensive upgrade, what about the Z2000? Are they still selling those where you live? That one is better in almost every aspect: very quiet, more pixels, inorganic D7 C2Fine panels with better blacks/contrast, very good lense, good dust protection.

Would you be referring to the Sanyo or Sharp Z2000?
