Epson projector w/ Firetv and no receiver - audio solution?

I'm trying to use the 5040 with my Amazon 4k fire TV stick. Can't seem to figure out how to get audio out to my speakers (use 3.5mm Klipsch) I bought this HDMI audio out converter, but still not getting sound. Video is working (in HDMI 2, didn't work in HDMI 1 HDCP 2.2 as I believe the converter doesn't support hdcp 2.2)

Have the fire TV stick plugged into the HDMI in of the converter, and have the projector HDMI plugged into the out of the converter, and the speaker 3.5mm cable plugged into the audio out of the converter.

Is there some setting I'm missing either on the projector or within Fire TV settings? Or did I get the wrong converter? I ordered a replacement converter to solve the hdcp2.2 issue but I imagine I'll have the same audio problem when it arrives.

Please help! Spent 3 hours on this tonight....

From the specs it looks like it should work. Make sure in audio settings on the fireTV it should work with it set to HDMI auto but I have had that setting not work on some TV's. Try DD disabled on the fireTV and set the switch on the converter to either pass or 2.1.

Thanks for your reply.

I've tried all of this except the firetv setting for hdmi audio (or is it auto), where is that setting?

Two other questions:

- Should converter be set to Pass or to 2.1? What's the difference?
- Should converter be set to arc on or off?
