I have a Kenwood KC-X1 digital av control amplifier/tuner and the matching KM-X1 6 channel power amplifier.

Would I be better of getting a new all in one unit that has the power amplifier and receiver in one or get a new digital av control amplifier/tuner.

I would like to have support for all of the new formats.

Any product suggestions would also be helpful

I currently have the following setup.

KC-X1

KM-X1

Sony 5 disc DVD

Sony HiFi VHS

TiVo

Digital Cable

PS2

36" Toshiba

Thanks

Separates usually give improved performance, mainly because a separate amp will almost always be better than the all-in-one receiver's amps. However, if you set all your speakers to small and use a sub you may notice much difference if you use one of the better powered receivers. So if your budget and rack space are limited you can do just fine with a good receiver. I recommend one of H/K's bigger receivers - AVR520 or bigger because they have better amps than most other brands. They will also make a good pre/pro/tuner if you decide to add a separate amp later.
