Connected G70 without remote and NA board, G70 worked. Plugged in remote and NA board and got error 88 and red light. Swapped out boards and found out it was a GB board that got damaged. We blew out the backup GB board when we plugged in the suspected bad remote and/or NA board (wish we had thought to use the backup remote with NA board). Any feedback?

what's an NA board?

I had a GB board go bad before, wound up spot burning all 3 tubes. I have a couple of tested working spares here if you need one.

I forwarded your reply to my friend. The NA card is the one that displays the error code. What happens when a tube is spot burned? It doesn't sound good. How badly were the tubes damaged?

It can also mean either the Ya or Yb boards are bad. I can repair any of the Gx and Ya/Yb boards.

yeah I doubt plugging in remote or swapping NA cards will cause errors to appear or the GB board to fail, not unless your hot-swapping modules with the machine powered up?

Curt is probly right, he has worked on these a bit. It could be a memory card glitch or a problem in the power supply section. IT's harder to diagnose a Sony than some other models. Usually, you need to send him a number of cards together for testing se he can find the faulty one.
