There has been no news since the big announcement at the end of September.


I'm not sure what you mean by "Might this be one of the channels DirecTV/ Mark C. might pick up?" HDNet (Mark Cuban), DirecTV and ESPN are 3 different entities.


HDNet will be offering 3 new channels in HDTV very shortly, one of them dedicated to sports. No other details are publicly available regarding this.


ESPN HD will be going on the air in April 2003, initial plans are to include 100 live telecasts in the first year - featuring Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Football League (NFL), and the National Hockey League (NHL).


DirecTV, or for that matter none of the multichannel program providers, has made any public commitment for carriage of the new HDNet channels or ESPN HD.


It is common knowledge that DirecTV, Dish Network and many cableco's are in talks with HDNet & ESPN regarding the new HD channels.
