Hi all,
I have had 2 Casablanca's over the past few years, and a friend of mine has had the same experience.
They are incredibly hot to the touch, even in standby mode.
I had my first one in an enclosed cabinet, with about 6-8" of ventilation on top, and a few inches to either side.
With my second CII, I cut a huge hole in the side of the cabinet so cool/fresh air could flow through and "attempt" to keep it cool.
It doesn't happen with any other type of unit - I've had B&K, Lexicon, receivers, etc., and none run "hot to the touch" - especially in standby mode......big hole....
Didn't work.
My friend had his in a cabinet also, and had about 12" of room above the unit. We even put an Elan fan above the unit, but it was still incredibly hot.
I swear I could have cooked an egg on the thing. On two of the three we had the upgraded cover, but no matter what you touched the units, they were incredibly hot - front panel, front panel buttons, top, side, etc.
Does it have something to do with the electrical in the San Jose area? I had my line tested and it was fine?
Do I need a Richard Grey power cord/conditioner so my next one doesn't burn down the house?
Thx all!
