Going on this weekend in Las Vegas, Evolution 2009 will feature six fighting games in various tournaments:
This three day event will be attended by thousands of players from many countries, and is seen by most in the community as the fighting game championship spectacle of the world. This is probably the most epic battle in Evo's history (sigh, Evo was 20 minutes from my house back in the good old days
).
The PlayStation consoles continue to be the systems of choice at the event since not only do they offer most of the popular titles, but they also have the best control scheme. The pads are held in high regard by pro players that prefer them over sticks, and the use of an infinite variety of custom joysticks have been only possible on Sony's consoles for over a decade.
Live streaming of the event will be available this year. It all starts on Friday (today), with the Finals for the games on Sunday. Here's the schedule for it if you want to catch the best matches of your favorite titles (Tekken 6 will be there for the PS3):
- Street Fighter IV (PS3)
- Super Turbo HD Remix (PS3)
- Soul Calibur IV (PS3)
- Guilty Gear Accent Core (PS2)
- Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (Dreamcast)
- SFIII: 3rd Strike (PS2)
