Now if only Sony and the Blu-Ray side can execute their plan. There have already been a couple delays of Blu-Ray titles that are discerning.

2007 is going to be a great year for Blu-ray exclusives. While Sony may not deliver everything they promise I feel confident that Fox and Disney will. Sony has really stepped up their game though so I wouldn't be overly concerned that they won't knock a few out of the ballpark themselves.

I hope Spiderman is one of them!

I'm sure there will be more titles delayed. It's just a fact of life with this stuff being so new. I don't think there will be significant delays though. These will be moreof the type where a title gets pushed from April to July, or May to June. That kind of stuff.

I fully expect we will have most of the big exclusives already announced/rumored by the end of the 3rd quarter.

On the Gridiron Gang BD disc it shows a trailer and lists the actual movies that say are coming soon to BD and Spiderman 2, Charlies Angels 1 + 2, the Patriot, and Bad Boys 2 are among many that they list and show. That is very exciting as well. I know it doesnt always mean their 100% coming out soon but it is a good sign.

Yes, I've seen several here in Canada -- haven't seen an HD-DVD equivalent.

As 'thebland' stated months ago ... it's all about the studio/Corp. support ... and HD-DVD looks to me like a dying format (I'm really hoping that this format war is over sooner, rather than later). Check out the HD-DVD releases for the next few months:

17 HD-DVD titles up to April 24: http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/releasedates.html

Eeeeks ... glad I have a Blu-ray player, when one compares to:

~57 Blu-Ray titles up to the end of April: http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/releasedates.html

Do the math ...

Delays are annoying but they're a fact of life. Same thing happens with HD DVD, DVD, and CD. Being someone who thrives on new releases I've grown accustomed to this nuisance. Like you said though, most delays are short.

Gone with the Wind is owned by Warner, so it will be a TotalHD if HD-DVD is still around by the time they release it.

Yes, I noticed this on both nights of American Idol this week. I saw three seperate Blu-ray references each night. Seeing that each night got an audience of around 40 Million people, this is GREAT publicity for Blu-ray.

while the BD announcements did make me buy several BDs (13 I think I have now), i dont think that HD-DVD (or BD) will "die" anytime soon. You can think how u want, and I'll think how I want. I'd rather enjoy the high-def content that I want to enjoy right now rather than waiting on companies/formats. I will still have my 360 addon if hd-dvd dies, and I will still have my ps3 if BD dies...

I guess I'm delusional because I didn't go into CES with the thought that either company had to do a particular thing to win.

A HD DVD fanboy could say "Blu-ray lost the battle when they didn't announce a $400 BD standalone"

In the end what fuels America is money. It's truly our Religion and these studios will sniff out and follow the money at every step. If I was a studio that was exclusive to Blu-ray 250k workwide (guessing) HD DVD simply wouldn't be enough for me to justify losing face and going neutral. Now if you give me 10x that number of players ...let's sit down and talk.

In the end of the day I'd like to think my individual character is greater than a corporate entity. I abhor the exclusivity of Major studios. I could see a small studio having to make the decision to focus on one format but I think all the Major studios could easily deliver on both platforms.

I see a lot of glee and happiness about exclusive titles. Humans ..we're such insecure creatures. We'd withhold anything essential from our brethren if the that means we get to prove we're right. Funny I watched Children of Men yesterday and while the anarchy is horrific does anyone actually feel like something like that wouldn't bring out the worst in us? Look at the way we're fighting over a plastic disc filled with digital data.

I'm more inclined to move towards an solution that allows both formats to live and prosper. Hmmmmm Universal players and Total HD sound like a mine fine solution IMO. I'm not going to sit around and pine for Blu-ray or HD DVD's death. I've got better things to do. Like watch amazing movies.

They are trying to break the studios with porn and with cheap players. In the case of the cheap $200 chinese players, that's a direct challenge to sony, panasonic, pioneer, JVC, Sharp, hitachi, samsung, LG (AND Toshiba) - just about any professional in the food chain for making or selling AV equipment.

A very confrontational approach against people they'd have to win over, by trying to choke out any chance of people making a decent living off making & selling high priced gear to addicts, means this is now a fight to the death with the CE industry.

Man I love this stuff.

OTOH, cheap players is a great appeal to the masses, so the end consumer will eat it all up. In the end, we get cheaper BD gear, and cheaper and better BD movies, so I can't complain too much.

If microsoft suddenly picked sides on flat screen TVs, we might get to $999 100" LCDs quicker.
