Expanding from 2.0 to 5.0... and eventually 5.1

First off, I'm a HT novice. And I'm crazy. I have been bit by the bug!

I have a Samsung LN46A750 HDTV and a Yamaha RX-V665.

My first speaker purchase was for fronts and comprised of 2 Paradigm MiniMonitors. Now I was told my next step is for a center, followed by a subwoofer, and lastly surrounds (which I guess means I'm going from 2.0 to 3.0 to 3.1 to 5.1 lol).

It is hard to describe the room dimensions. The "listening area" of the room is about 15x10ish. I'll post a picture of it when I'm not at work (it won't upload). It's a very odd shaped room. The front is a fireplace w/ a shelf above it and two floor to ceiling bookshelves on either side. I didn't want the TV over the fireplace so its sitting in one of the bookshelves... which makes it off center. And this sucks. So eventually it will either 1) move above the fireplace or 2) move into a new room (most likely #2).

My questions are: what comes next? Should I stick with Paradigm's for the center and surrounds? ADP-190s and CC-290? I'll leave the sub questions for the sub forum for later...

... and lastly... the room isn't wired for all of this stuff. So how do I run speaker cable from the receiver to get to the rears without being seen? How do I go under the carpet?

Exciting stuff!

I would add the subwoofer first (2.1) then add a Paradigm CC-190 or CC-290 center channel speaker to bring the system up to 3.1. Use a center channel Paradigm recommends as "matching" your Mini Monitors.

The fronts frequency response looks like 110-20K and the CC from 80-20K, so until you have a sub you're missing out on the lower range audio (I don't know how the "low frequency extension" works, but I would think you'd want the sub in as soon as you can.

If you want to put in some work, a friend of mine hid his long wire runs by going to Lowes or Home Depot and buying prepainted "quarter round" wooden lengths, which are basically a long wooden hollow cylinder quartered lengthwise. It is inexpensive ($1-2/ 8 ft) and can be attached to the baseboards of a room. The wire can run in the hollowed area along the baseboards to the place where you want to have the (floor standing or on a post) speakers. You can do this along walls, obviously won't work for open spaces. They can be either nailed in place (brads) , or you can buy putty or some other way to fasten them.
