I'm getting lazy and I dont want to drywall my basement HT until next year. Now that its getting cold the room is getting cold :)

I figure that 60-70% of the exterior wall surface area is going to be covered with 2" Roxul RXL80, which will do double duty as insulation and sound treatment.

If I dont insulate the rest of the wall, however, much of the insulative properties will disappear.

What could I use to insulate the rest of the wall that a)is fire-safe to be exposed (which I guess eliminates styrofoam-type insulation) but will not over-absorb the room acoustically?

How about insulating the rest of the wall and then just throwing up some temporary seriously cheap paneling. Just the air gap will provide some good insulation value. Just understand that the flimsy paneling is gonna sound like crap.

You could also just drywall the 'rest of the wall?' Don't even bother to tape or mud. Just do the hanging part. What can that take, 1 day with a buddy and a 12 pack?
