Well...I need to move several of my speakers and, as you would expect, the installer didn't leave much slack to work with. Is it possible and/or recommended to splice in additional cable and, if so, would I lose sound quality? The cable routing is a bit nasty. I can run new if I must but just looking at options.

If you can solder the cables together I don't see why it is a problem. A soldered connection is just as good as a new cable.

If you can get the strands wound together, solder and apply some heat shrink it should be OK. However, while I staunchly disagree with all the speaker wire nonsense that people spout, I wouldn't be keen on using something like that in my stereo.
