Ahhhh. This reminds me of the relatively early days of DVD. I think it was around New Years, right after the launch during the start-up of a lot of online retailers. They were all burning cash to get customers and they had specials, selling DVD's really cheap (sometimes below cost). I built my collection from 0 to about 50 for an average price of around $10 per disc. I'd love to see a similar price war for HD content!

Thanks for the Amazon heads up!
Just pre ordered three discs and it gave me the discount at checkout for those three.. very cool promo..
Did not work for me :(
It Worked

Thanks
That's a deal!
I can't seem to get this to work with the three HD titles. When I try to checkout I get "We're sorry, but the promotional code you entered cannot be applied to this purchase. Please refer to your promotional coupon for information about item or store restrictions. "

I notice when I click on the Toshiba player, it mentions the promotion. When I click on any of the HD titles, it does not mention the promotion. Could it be beacuse I am a Amazon Prime member and they cannot be combined?

I'm not an amazon prime member and have the same problem!
Looks like Training Day and Swordfish do not work with the promotion.
excellent post. Thks.
worked it out. You must buy 3 HD-DVD's with the special offer listed. I'm in the UK so its open to us as well!

Thank you very much film mixer.
I had Van Helsing, Chronicles of Riddick, Bourne Supremacy, and U-571 on pre-order. I cancelled the order and went back and re-added them to my cart and it put in the discount automatically; I didn't have to enter the code.

Excellent!!

Excellent!!
Looks like Amazon may have "grandfathered" the accounts that have ordered at least 3 HD-DVD's already. I have purchased 5, one at a time, in the last few weeks and when I added one to my cart last night, the discount was already there.
For some reason, I am getting less than 10% discount. I recently ordered three for $72.97 and only got $5 off. Any one have that problem. I wrote to customer service to find out what's going on.

Sounds like one of them didn't discount. What three did you order? Full Metal Jacket hasn't been giving me a discount.
I ordered Serenity, Apollo 13 and Cinderella Man. We'll see what customer service says.

Strange, I added those three to my cart and it shows a discount of $7.35.

Yes, it worked for me. I've purchased 2 & had U-571 on pre-order. Cancelled the pre-order, then added U-571 back in my cart along with Riddick and it automatically applied the promo discount. Great stuff! But, yeah, for some reason it would apply the discount to Full Metal Jacket, so I removed it from my cart. It's in my Netflix queue, and when I saw it years ago I didn't really enjoy it that much; too depressing.

And you really have to search for Full Metal Jacket; it's not in their HD DVD listing. I had to do a DVD search for the title, and then select the HD DVD version. I tried this on The Unforgiven, and Amazon doesn't seem to have the HD DVD version at all. Oh well, it's in my Netflix queue as well. BTW - with Netflix I've found if you move the Tuesday HD DVD releases at the top of you queue and then return DVD's to them Monday, you get your best shot at getting them.

Finally, if you can get the Amazon Prime 3 month free trial, go for it. Not sure how you ask for it, the offer was generated in my first Hd DVD purchase. At $79 annual cost, not sure it's worth it, but 3 months free trial is great. You get 2 day free shipping on everything, 1 day shipping at a marginal cost. No more adding at least $25 to your cart to get free standard shipping. Works for me! Just put a reminder in your calendar 3 months after you join it to cancel.

Yay, I'm Grandfathered in. Discount shows up in the shopping cart.
