extracting frames from hd 720 vs 1080

I want the best quality still frames without using any of the 'photo' modes. I've heard that 1080 frames are somewhat blurred while 720 are sharp. I think is has to do with being interlaced or not.


This camera will run unattended so no manual intervention is possible.


Can anyone clarify this?
