I'm new to the HDTV arena, my wife bought me a 48" widescreen JVC rear-projection HDTV ready TV about 2 1/2 years ago. Now I want to get an HDTV antenna to get locals, and I'll be getting Directv HD within the next few months. Do I need to wait until I get the HD box from Directv, or can I just buy an antenna for now, and hook that up to the receiver once I buy that. Or do I need to buy a separate receiver just for my off-air antenna. Thanks

Depends, if your TV has a built in ATSC tuner then you just need an antenna. If it doesn't you'll need a stand alone ATSC tuner or you can wait til you get Directv and use the ATSC built into the Directv receiver to get them. Personally I'd wait on the Directv receiver if that's the case, it'll allow you to intergrate the locals into the guide and keep everything on one input source.

Thanks for the help, I just checked the JVC website and it looks like I'm SOL. I'll take your advice and wait the few months until I get the directv receiver. Thanks for your help
