Our church is in the process of designing a multimedia system for the sanctuary, and our system designer has recommended an Extron 1508 for a scaler/switcher unit. Everything I see about the unit makes me think it is a good choice, but I wanted to check something with you. It has an RGBHV/VGA output on it, which is not a problem, except possibly for one thing--HDCP. Our designer informs me that the Extron will output all signals over this output, even HDCP-encrypted signals. I just wanted to check with you guys here to see if that was in fact the case--I'm sure somebody here can tell me for sure. Thanks in advance for your help!

It does not. Extron is keeping to the "rules". The IN1508 is from a pre-HDCP-age though, so the question is if it's DVI-D input would accept HDCP-protected signals in the first place. Since there's only the mentioned VGA output I would think not.

Thanks Jason and Fudoh. I actually ended up calling Extron this week, and they confirmed what you guys are saying as well. In fact, the rep said he didn't think it handled HDCP content at all...which makes perfect sense. It didn't ring true to me when our installer said that. Thanks for your help!
