I found this baby in for sale in a swedish hometheater-forum. I want to know if anyone tried it. I haven´t bought it jet, but I have it at home to try it out. I connected it to my Barco Graphics 808 and I am not sure if I should love it or hate it. In comparison with my Iscan pro there are both good and bad sides. With the Extron it´s more "push" in the picture but with the Iscan the picture is more calm and stabile. With the Iscan the edges around objects are smother and with the Extron it´s more of these, I don´t know what´s it called but rough edges.

I would really like to know more from someone who has more experience of the Extron than I have.

By the way, the price is 1500 swedish kronor wich is about $150-200us.

line quadruplers are now considered relatively old news. Scalers basically crushed that technology a few years ago...

Does it do good de-interlacing or does it just output each scan line four times?


Play the 200 TVL resolution pattern from AVIA. Compare the sideways lying wedges between using the quadrupler and uysing the iScan.


A plain quadrupler actually has just 240 lines of resolution vertically (for NTSC).


A good modern scaler adjusted to mimic a quadrupler de-interlaces 480i to 480p first and then scales to 960p.
