F1 starts HDTV broadcast in this weekend!

Will there be the person who knew this?

It was written here(Japanese)

Google this keyword:Nifty F1-06 08/17/2006 HDTV

(Results shows only 1 page)

The following thing is written on the page.

Fuji-TV made clear that I perform broadcast of F1 Japan GP of this year in HDTV(Full-HD 1080/60i) for the first time. And it is not origin but also this is to first-ever in the history to cross in 56 of F1 on a day.

On the race day of Sunday, October 8, it will face it by 80 cameras (including an onboard camera). Furthermore, it will perform expansion of data broadcasting.

Maybe, HDTV is only in this weekend. And I think it will be only in Japan, it is difficult for a satellite to relay HDTV in this weekend only.

Regrettably, that it is only in Japan as an area of the first HDTV broadcast.

I wish Fuji-TV broadcasts it at letter box size by satellite broadcast.

Unfortunately, Speed won't be HD for awhile in the US. The only time Formula Boring may be able to be shown in HD in the US is when a race is shown on a network. Of course, the supposedly techincally inferior Nascar has been in HD for some time now.:)

My favorite F1 track is in HD and I can't see it. Even worse, who knows if Suzuka will ever be a F1 venue ever again. :(

Oh boy.. here we go again !!

Some people find racing in circles to be exciting TV, and some millions religiously watch people eating insects alive on TV for fun.

No need rain on someone's parade. :( Thank you.

Back on topic, this is great news for F1. Maybe Japan and Europe will take the lead in providing cutting edge coverage to the cutting edge motor sport [with all due respect to other forms of racing].

I see you put a caveat at the end knowing my superior knowledge of all forms of motorsport.

I am not raining on any parade. It may start to be broadcast in HD, but it won't be seen in HD in the US unless it is on the networks like Monaco.

On the racing in circles, I have actually watched more Formula Boring this year than Nascar. Like a moth to a flame, I am still partially drawn to the circus if not the racing. Despite that, the two Nascar road races had more action and real racing than five seasons of F1. If open wheel road racing is your thing, then the Cart Cleveland races were usually the best.

Eric, I concede that you know more about racing than me, even about F1 for that fact.

The topic of the thread is about "Formula One in HD" and not if it is anymore exciting than Nascar or IRL or WRC or whatever. Let's not make this thread into another worthless debate regarding F1 versus other forms of racing.

Hmmm, maybe a HDDVD? If it turns into a good race, I'd buy it!

And it begins again.

Define action. If F1 threw a full-course yellow flag each and every time that:

1) A 'big name' needed tires or fuel

2) Anybody touched a 2 in² bit of grass on the infield

3) somebody started to drift and recovered

Maybe this 'real racing' of which you speak would happen more in F1.

Twice in NASCAR a race was run from green-to-checker w/no yellows. Both times the winner had at least a 30" margin. It's just as bad in CART/Champcar/Indycar.

Back to the thread here- what's the deal with the 'near film' look of the video cameras used at F1 races? Somestimes they make it onto the world feed, usually as highlights...but at the track, that's the feed that makes it onto the Jumbotron. They're awfully recent, which makes me wonder why they didn't buy into HD instead.

It'd be nice, especially since the 'season review' DVDs are so badly mastered- sometimes they're worse than old internet-quality MPGs.
any Japanese HT brothers on the forum, that could record the race and host it on usenet ?
Maybe we'll see it on INHD at some point[they do show the Japan Open tennis tournament on INHD]in a tape delayed version if we're[extremely]lucky.
Colosus,

After what happened to Alonso in Qualifying at Monza last month, its one of those "throw stones in Glass houses" situations by calling out Nascar's happy yellows.

I Don't know when I will see my first F1 race in HDTV, but I know I'll be watching that first time its possible here.

Nothing happened to Alonso at Monza. He is just a bitchin' crybaby. Michael could have raised hell for getting penalized in Monaco for an iffy overbreaking manuever, and even while he was lynched in the media, he was dignified enough, unlike the crybaby Alonso. These are just unfortunate referee decisions, and just as in any other sport, you got to take it as part of the deal. Sometimes they help you, sometimes they go against you.
Well, back on topic, I think this is a great first step, and it proves Bernie doesn't have some weird anti-HDTV plot up his sleeve.

Actually if you are going to make a blanket statement atleast you could get your facts strait. In 1997 Mark Martin won the Winston Select 500 by a margin of 0.146 seconds in a race that was caution free. The following are links to back up the facts.

Scroll down to the May 1997 entry in the time line.

I enjoy both F1 and NASCAR. I would enjoy NASCAR more if they didn't thow a bunch of BS cautions now a days, but I believe this has more to do with the tv deal than anythign else. I wish F1 would have more meaningful passing, but I feel the current race for the pole to be the most exciting aspect of F1 at this time.

And F1 in HD would be a lovely sight. SPEED TV in HD would be lovely since they now have the right to the Allstar race and the Twin 125s or whatever they want you to call them now.

I never wanted to get into a pissing match between F1 and Nascar. I do find it humorous that as much money that F1 has that there race coverage is behind Nascar.

How many countries is Nascar televised in, and how many of them have HD coverage?
As I recall, F1 was HD several years ago. It was a pay for service system. It was on several channels, with in-car and all the trimmings. Europe only as I remember it. Over time the equipment wore out, the subscriber pool did not grow, and it was discontinued a while back. Traditional TV coverage got only a small portion of the subscription service. It was lovingly referred to as "Bernie Vision".
