False Advertisement on xbox 360 games?

1084 Views 16 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  NoThru22
Maybe I am misunderstanding something here but alot of the xbox 360 sports games Im picking up has written on the back "Online Multiplayer 2-2" so I pick them up in hopes of playing with my friend but only to realize you can only play 1-1 online. I even emailed tech support and they responded by saying the game was only designed to play 1-1 online.

So the question is... what does "Online Multiplayer 2-2" mean???????????

Dunno....But I REALLY wish that 2 people could play on the same team in Madden. My buddies and I used to always play with one of us being the reciever and the other being the QB....can't do that w/madden :( :( :( .
really? that sucks...you should be able to play 4 on the same team if you want. as much as i'm enjoying my 360 you really have to wonder what some of these developers are thinking. the fact that you can't easily play COD II online with a friend on the same team is just dumb too.
Many Xbox games had incorrect info on the back of the game box, but I would of thought they'd get their **** together for 360. I guess not.

(The only time it really pissed me off was with KUF: The Crusaders. Phantagram checked off downloadable content on the back of the game box but never released any because of poor sales.)

I've never even heard of that game.
OMG! I don't play sports games at all but this is ridiculous. I play a lot of Halo where is the team is part of the fun and strategy. And sports, which are by definition "team" games, only play one on one? How sad! And worthless!
i think false advertising is a pretty strong accusation here. as was said earlier, when the xbox launched, misprints on the boxes of the games were pretty common. i don't think it was false advertising, just some miscommunication coupled with misprints. its frustrating, but they'll iron it out
^Hmmm... you just stated the definition of false advertising.
two people playing on the same team used to be standard multiplayer option for football games, but they left A LOT off of Madden '06 for the 360 :

they removed play challenges

they left off the rumble/vibration feature for the controller

no minicamp

no more madden commentary

lots of play glitches

sure it looks absolutely perfect in HD but the problems are really annoying.

Crappy, slower than molasses gameplay goes on that list as well.

i haven't had the slowdown problems others have had, i just don't think it feels or plays like a real football game. it gets boring REALLY fast.
it's actually misrepresentation, not false advertising. not that it makes any difference, but...
Maybe its just an EA thing because its on almost ALL EA sports games. Online Multiplayer 2-2 for fifa, nbalive, madden, but none deliver. Yea these things do happen but it wouldn't suprise me if they did it on purpose and then when brought up they say "oh our bad we misprinted it, but thanks for buying the game anyway! our sales would have been REALLY ****** if you didn't fall for that one!" :)
I am not sure that "Online Multiplayer 2-2" is necessarily supposed to mean 2 vs. 2. COD2 says "Online Multiplayer 1-8". I have a feeling the meaning isn't as clear as we would hope.
ah now its starting to make sense i guess. COD2 you can start a server and play online by yourself if you want to. But sports games you must have another person so its from 2 TO 2 players. I guess if i wanted coop it should say from 2-4 players.

Damnit :)

Yeah, they didn't exactly launch an aggressive marketing campaign... or any marketing campaign. Anyway, the game turned out to be fantastic (as long as you don't mind heavy metal music, and could get by the horrendous voice-acting), but because of poor sales they reneged on the promised dlc. IMO it set a bad precedent and MS should of held them to their promise.
Ghost Recon: Island Thunder promised nine downloadable Desert Missions, which would've meant they would have converted all the maps over from Desert Seige. Then they released the Rainbow Six 3 preview disc with "Five exclusive missions" on it, so that meant they still owed nine maps for Island Thunder. They ended up counting those maps from the preview disc as part of the nine and they only released four other downloads. As far as I'm concered, I'm still owed five more levels.
