Fan noise tolerability?

I just upgraded from a Sony BDP-S370 because it made a distracting humming sound during playback. Now I have a Panasonic DMP-BD75, and rather than a humming sound it just has a fan sound, quite noticeable from 7 feet away but certainly less irritating than the Sony's hum. My question is, do you find Blu-ray player fan noise a problem, or is it just something you're to expect with this technology?

Do you notice the fan with any source playing or is it in a completly silent room?
I can hear it when a Blu-ray or DVD is playing. Besides the sound coming from the movie itself, the room is completely silent.
My player (Pioneer 09FD) is DEAD quiet when playing a disc. I can even put my ear to the front of the player (4") and can barely hear it.

Just get a player without a fan (my last samsung had no fan). But with no fan, you'll probably hear the disc spinning.
So basically I should just live with it. I specifically got this model because Consumer Reports rated it very well (whatever that ultimately means). It is much less distracting than the humming, screeching Sony.
I own 3 Samsung BD players, they all don't have fans. That being said, I have never heard the sound of the disc spinning, even during quiet parts of movies.

I would return it or get it serviced. I have three Panny's with fans and they are silent. I have to use the wet finger test to check if they are working.

No no no no no. This is not happening. Either I have the worst luck in the world or I'm way too sensitive/picky, because nothing I get these days seems to be "perfect." I already had that Sony player that made that horrible whining sound, and I didn't even notice it until I could no longer return the player. Now I just got this Panasonic yesterday and I'm not going to keep running back and forth to the store. Too much, totally annoying. I highly doubt there's anything wrong with the machine. There probably wasn't anything "wrong" with the Sony either. But if enough people with DMP-BD75s can convince me theirs are dead quiet, I may reconsider. Any takers?
