A little off topic but I know us CRT people are enlightened, so someone will answer this quickly ;)

I have access to some really nice AC fans for cooling the HT. They're 6" 205 cfm, so I figure I can slow em down and have em quiet and keep the theatre cool.

So here's my question: Can I put these things on a dimmer to slow them down?

Thanks guys,

Wes

I would suggest a fan speed control rather than a dimmer, as they are meant for inductive (motor) loads. The main noticeable difference is that a dimmer goes from off, through low, to high. A motor controller goes from off, to high, and then to low. This is because motors last longer when started at high speed, and then slowed down once they get up to speed.
