Fantasy is funny!

I get the biggest kick out of some of these posts regaling us with magical mystery cures, mods, assists, etc for stereo systems.

I think we should start a thread listing all the hilarious necessities that some "audiophiles" are prone to using and what wonderful verbose descriptions accompanying the descriptions and presented as solid testimony.

If we list all the wonderful gadgets we should assign a price to each and see if we can market them to the outside world.

This could be an exercise in salesmanship, hereafter referred to as BS slinging.

I'll start with the most recent.

"Magic Cube" delivers sonic nirvana and eargasms to your living room. 4 easy payments of 349.00.

I absolutely love the concept of cable lifters/risers/standoffs. Whether they be recycled glass/ceramic power pole insulators, or a three stick tripod held together with a rubber band. I think they have to be right up at the top of pure marketing BS of any of the audio accessories.....well maybe just below putting a sacred rock on your receiver or DVD player to increase the audio experience.

For me, nothing beats the audiophile power cord. Since taking Electronics Engineering many years ago, I actually understand why it cant make a bit of difference, but it seems to be the one that many will argue most vehemently about. The magic crystals that make your system sound better by simply having them in the room are also a great audio gag, but I just cant believe there would be anyone out there that would take them seriously.

I should have got into marketing special "audio Improvement paint" for people to use when painting their theater rooms years ago. I would probably be lying on a beach right now counting my money.
Do you not find any of these claims amusing? Should my reaction instead be "Oh dear me, that poor deluded soul. Perhaps we should try to offer our sincerest condolences. Oh the tragedy".

Get real. As I stated before (and evidently impressed you with as you remembered), when the silly, preposterous sales hype is swallowed HLS and then repeated with extreme assurances and false bravado, no other first response is likely or warranted, from me at least, than to just read and laugh.

These folks are generally incapable of accepting knowledge and rational thinking /deduction from those here MUCH more experienced in the field than any salesman yet they insist on following all the sales hype from someone equally as devoid of actual knowledge.

BTW I find Penn to be more obnoxious and UNFUNNY that just about anyone except for Pauly Shore and Andy Dick.

Yeah, that's a good one. I personally love the "acoustic treatments" that are based on pure fantasy without a shred of applicable physics to get in the way of the exorbitant price tag. Bowls, crystals...you name it.

Giz, it was a joke.....that is one of the things I do for a laugh.

Sorry to say that humor is lost on you, unless it involves having a chuckle about speaker wire or tweeks I guess.

I agree with you.........to a certain extent on your OT comment. But hey, if tossing around boasts about your speaker building is what floats your boat, even in non-DIY threads, so be it.

P.S. Do you not remember the thread where penn told us all that he has had more fun than 99.99% of us. That was hilarious and evidently it cracked Chu up too. I felt honored to have given him a chuckle when I suggested you hook up with penn because Chu reigns as "King of All That is Funny" around here.
