I love Law and Order, but it's on about 5 times a day (literally) and 2-3 are repeats (i.e. same episode at 8 AM and 8 PM, then same episode at 9 AM and 9 PM, then 3rd episode at 10 PM)


Currently I use 3 show-based themes to record them, but I'd love to use one keyword-theme to catch them all in one category. BUT, currently, I'd record 2 extra hours per day!


Given that Replay knows the show's episode Title, I'd love to have it weed out recording the same episode twice.

It USED to do that, but they purposefully changed it. Reason is that some shows, MTV's Real World was the primary example, give the exact same show and episode title for ALL episodes, so Replay would think that a new episode was a 'repeat' and didn't record it. They figured that losing a new episode outsucked recording an extra one, so they changed it.

As with most features, I think it could be useful as an OPTION for each theme. Turn it on or off for each show, that way you can turn it off for Real World but on for Law + Order.

Any feature that would weed out repeating episodes would be welcome IMO. Currently I don't use Replay Zones at all, but I think this would be a perfect use for them. How about a Zone for each network show that _only_ includes the new episodes?


I'm assuming that these zones are created with some human guidance, but if there was a 'Friends season' zone for example, it could catch all of the new episodes of friends (including bonus episodes), and leave out all of the re-runs.

There needs to be a pretty major change in the way it records things. I use mostly keyworded themes so that I catch a show wherever and whenever it's on, but then I'm screwed by repeats, and I'm at the bottom of the priority food chain. It certainly isnt the best way to do things.
