What are they for? I understand they should be installed on any wiring connected to the set. From what I've been able to figure out from google, they appear to block RF interference. Is this correct? I'm curious why this is the first set I've ever seen to provide ferrite cores. (TH-42PD25UP)

Check the Ops book. Under the "hooking up a computer" sectionit shows that the larger core goes on a possible RS-232 connection, rarely used by consumers. The little ones would go on the speaker leads to keep stray RF noises out of the audio. No harm if they are not used.

Excellent. Thanks for the quick response guys. I've had no issues leaving them off so sounds like I won't mess with success.

No reason NOT to use.


Sadly, the "bird" doesn't frequent the consumer nests so I dunno nuttin' 'bout no Viera, Onyx or any of their other animals.
