I have configured FFDShow according to the FFDShow FAQ posted on AVSForum. When I hit play, I get a few frames rendered and then the image freezes. I have played around with the settings, using point resize as the fastest and I can see the difference in image quality, but the output image still freezes. ZP still indicates that the movie is playing, but the image is not updated. I have tried setting the OSD to see if that tells me anything, but the OSD is also frozen. Any suggestions, or methods of diagnosting the problem?

It is an Athlon XP 1800, Windows XP system using Zoom Player with either WinDVD or PowerDVD codecs.

Would you expect FFDShow to hang if processing power is not sufficient? I was expecting some form of stuttering rather than complete freeze.

Have you applied the abstract filter?

This is a known problem with WInDVD and PowerDVD. Usually freezing is removed by adding Abstract DMO filter and changing Pasteurization settings in the registry.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\InterVideo\\DVD5\\Pasteurizat

ion]

"Scale"=dword:00000064

"Intensity"=dword:00000000

On the other hand the picture may just freeze if you overload your CPU.
