Why is it that under menu/picture/advanced- that the Film Mode is greyed out so that you cannot select this


Per Mike53, I was trying to activate Film Mode for DVD playback and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to activate this menu item. The user manual was not helpful....

Seems that you cannot activate the film mode for standard dvd 480p input. Can activate for 1080 (or it seems).

Film mode turns on 3/2 pulldown to make the TV attempt to reconstruct full frames from interlaced signals and display them using progressive scan. If you already have a progressive signal, there is nothing to process (the processing was already done in the DVD player).
