projector central $210 CAD

Purchased a TY-FB8HM as I was told that this was necessary for the TH-42PHD7UY Panasonic that I own and never hooked up. Unfortunately, I think I was lied to-- My time warner scientific explorer 3100 doesn't have hdmi hook up-- only s cable. I have a feeling that I can hook up the s-cable from the tv to the box to watch TV.

I just can't seem to get a picture.

Don't really know though. Spent over 20 hours researching how to connect my Panasonic TV to a cable box to watch TV and I still can't figure it out. If anyone from NYC wants to come take this whole thing away at a good price LMK (never used once!)-- I think I'm going to go back to a tube TV. Can't seem to make sense of connecting plasmas. (and I have EE degree and i do tech work for my own company) go figure!!

Time Warner should be able to get you a box with HDMI or DVI output. I'm not sure the 8 series HDMI will work in a 7 series display. Do you have the manual?
Have you selected the right input ? It's not plug and play.

God, I hate to be the bearer of bad news here, especially as you mentioned that you have spent a lot of time hunting for this part. But, the TY-FB8HM HDMI board is not to be inserted into anything but an 8UK series commercial Panny panel. At least that's what the specs and manual say and what Panny's official line is. The scaler electronics in the 8UK differ from those used in the 7UY series.

I'm wondering how you spent 20 hours researching all this yet ended up choosing an HDMI board when your cable box is standard definition with only S-Video and does not even have an HDMI output?

You can still connect the display - simply connect an S-Video cable to the display then switch to the S-Video input and watch SD cable for the time being, but the better choice would be to take your SD cable box to TWC and trade it for an HD STB then connect it via Component if the HDMI blade is incompatible with your older display. Your Plasma has BNC connectors so buy yourself some RCA-to-BNC adapters to use with your Component cables.

Connecting a Plasma is no more difficult than connecting it to a regular TV - the connections are the same so there's no reason to downgrade to a tube TV.

Crap, that sucks. Has anyone actually plugged the terminal board into a 7UY to see what comes out the other side?

yovoy, any chance you can hold onto the terminal board, get a new cable box and try it out? Would that void the warrenty or cause damage? Inquiring minds want to know... I'm chasing the dream of proper 1080i deinterlacing.
