Finally getting a dedicated theater (take 2)

As I mentioned in another thread about theater seats, the house we were supposed to close on today fell through on Tuesday...three days before closing. So that's not awesome. After all the time invested in getting ready to take possession we are super bummed. But...we somehow found ourselves in a better overall house...with a smaller media room. So I've had to really start from scratch. I'll start with a few pictures of the space:

And from the front to the back:

And over my feet:

The first decision has already been made for me as they offered the seats to us for a reason price and we are planning keep those. The current placement is off-center by about 8 or so inches, which I plan to fix. Based on the last picture, it appears to maximize my screen size, I'll really need a higher riser as the built-in one is 8 or so inches. My plan is to get a pair of the inexpensive risers from 4seating for now:

Now to the hard part...speakers. I want to stick with a AT screen, but that means I'm going to have to go with In-Wall speakers. I've looked at super expensive ones, but with the newer house being more costly, I think I want to stick with a more moderate budget. So I'm thinking about trying out the Monolith THX-365IW for the LCR:

I would also use these for the surrounds, as the matched bookshelf version is OOS forever apparently. I would pair these with two Monolith 12" subs:

And finally four Atmos speakers...may as well keep it in the Monoprice family until the monolith atmos in-ceiling speakers come out:

Is there a better option out there in the same price range? Here's a sketch of where I think things might go:

Once you guys help me finalize speakers, I'll move on to pre-amp/AVR/amps...There is a nice equipment closet pre-wired in the back of the room to store of that in.

Thoughts?

Speakers selection is fine. You might want to check out some Triads at that price range. Silver or Gold Series are comparable.
I think you can build yourself the step riser yourself at a much cheaper price.
Paint front wall, ceiling, columns for lights, and all trim and doors BLACK.

Then utilize some GIK acoustic panels to get some treatments in the room. I would use a graphite(charcoal) color fabric vs black.

You won't get me to agree with the sub, as I am a DIY guy on those. However, I have heard good things and have experienced the PB-1000 Pro. Not sure how that stacks up with your selected one.

Let's talk AVR's. Whatcha thinking on that?
Lots of potential. Sorry I don't have any suggestions but what are the dimensions of the room? if you don't mind sharing

I was thinking about starting off with an X3700H as an inexpensive pre-amp for now. In pre-amp mode, that AVR is all or nothing. Meaning I would need an amp with 11 channels or a few amps. That would lead me to either the 7 channel monolith with something else for the Atmos channels that was way cheaper. Or the 11 channel monolith.

The room is 13'6" (wide) x 17'8" (deep) x 9'6" (height).

Why buy a riser? Build a BOSS instead and kill 2 birds with one stone.

Even if you like the red, at a minimum, paint the side pillars and ceiling black - or better yet, cover the ceiling with black velvet. Black velvet on the front wall as well.

For subs, I’d go DIY and position them up front, under the screen.

Accessories4Less has the x3700 on a little bit of a sale. However, if you are considering going with that, and you are looking to get into a decent pre-amp setup and config, consider the ToneWinner AT-300 as an option as well. It does not have allot of bells and whistles, but it does have allot of good features. There is a thread.

Also, Steve's response just popped up.. I complete agree, you may really want to consider Boss platform for a riser, if you also want TR .
Thanks for the deal link. I can't buy that until we get through the close process, and by then it will be gone...which makes me super sad. But hopefully they will have it again when I'm actually ready for it.

The BOSS platform looks kind of amazing. I was just being lazy, but that looks like a fun build. I'm going through the thread now. Does anyone have a consolidated how-to on that thing?

Is this what you're reading?

A few things. That guy used a single sheet of plywood to hold 4 drivers. He’s going to lose a lot of shake due to lack of rigidity. Consider 2-3 layers of 3/4” thick plywood.

Also, to me, his tubes seemed really under-inflated. I fill mine up so they are firm to the pinch.
Or the ultimate iteration is a CUHB (Cone Up Hover Boss) where the drivers are mounted cone up into a full riser : The Tactile Response Thread for BASS :))
