Hey all,

Finally decided on a receiver, Yamaha rx v575. It seems to have all I want: airplay, wifi capable, and multi zone so I can run my patio speakers separate from my garden speakers. Now I just need to ask. I want the ability to play my garden speakers alone, or my patio speakers alone, or both sets at same time. I do not need to play different material on each, just want to play one set or the other or both. This Yamaha receiver has 2 zones for that. Big question, can I wire 2 garden speakers to one channel and the other 2 speakers to a different channel, the switch zones and run my patio speaker to 2 channels on a different zone. I was told I could parallel or series wire 2 speakers to one zone. My speakers are 150 watt 8 ohm resistance. I just cant get a grasp on the wiring part.

Also, does anyone know if I can use any manufacturers wifi adapter or do I have to use the one they sell for this unit the YWA 10.

Thanks so much to everyone for their guidance.

Hey William, thanks for the reply. As I understand it, the rep who recommended the yamaha rx v575 receiver said that since it is 2 zone I can have to seperate sets of speakers, one set in zone 1 and one set in zone 2. Now what I want to know is, if I use one channel, can I wire 2 speakers either in parallel or series to that 1 channel. In parallel resistance would be 4 ohms and in series it would be 16 ohms. in the specs of the receiver they call it zone b.Sorry if I am not using correct terminology, I know very little about audio.

You seem to be confusing zones with channels. If you just have 2 zones you want to hook up 2 speakers in each zone then it is simple.

Just run L&R wires from zone 1 (or Mains) to patio L&R speakers and then run L&R wires from zone B (or speaks B) to the garden L&R speakers. You don't need to do any splicing or parallel or series connections.

EDIT: here is a pic of the connections.

I can see your point for the 2 patio speakers but I have 4 garden speakers. Am I incorrect in saying there is only places to hook up 2 speakers, I am prob wrong. Thanks for trying to explain.

Hook the Garden to Zone A and use the 2 surround (cycled in picture) for the extra 2 speakers. Run the receiver in 5 Channel Stereo mode.
