Finding and rating OEM flat-panel components
Mods I tried several searches and couldn’t find anything that answered my questions. If such a thread exists feel free to redirect me and delete this thread.
I’ve been researching Flat Panel Displays for about 18 months now, but I can’t seem to find a place that lists or rates the OEM components that go into consumer displays. For instance I know that Orion makes LCD panels for smaller (below 23 inches) Toshiba LCD TVs and I know that Orion is not known for their high quality. I also know that LG makes some of the best ATSC/NTSC/Clear QAM tuners, but I don’t know if anyone outside of LG utilizes them.
Is there a thread or web-site that lists manufactures of panels (i.e. Orion, Chi Mei Optics, et al), the quality of those panels and the consumer electronics companies (Toshiba, Vizio, Panny, et al) that use them?
If you don’t know thread or site like that perhaps posters could list what they know about OEMs, their quality and the companies that use them. I’m in the market for a 32 inch LCD and would be most interested in information regarding those models, but there’s no reason to limit the discussion to that display size or technology.
